About me behind the lens

Oxfordshire Photographer Alex at Willow and Pea.

I live in a pretty little village in Oxfordshire with my husband Ben and our three loud, hilarious and busy boys! When I’m not photographing we spend most of our free time in our caravan exploring the New Forest and Cornwall. We love our bikes and spend loads of time cycling and having picnics.

I love creating images! I have since I was a teenager and this was long before cameras on mobile phones! I was bought an SLR (single lens reflex camera) for my 18th birthday and this was my first real love. I’ve always been so intrigued with people and their stories. I was certain I would take up a career in social photography, after completing my Photography and Digital imaging degree in 2001. Before I set up my own studio in 2006 I spend a lot of time travelling with my camera documenting the interesting faces I came across on my way.

I’ve been a family lifestyle photographer for 18 years running my own business and photographing hundreds of families throughout the UK. (Please have a read through some of my raves to get a feel of how I photograph your children.)

Once I became a mother I quickly understood the intensity of love and protectiveness. I didn’t realise how swiftly those first precious couple of years go by and how rapidly your child develops and grows.
I want to share with you my story so far since becoming a mother through my personal photographic journey. My boys are my hardest subject, probably because I’m their mummy, they enjoy pulling silly faces or folding their arms, but just sometimes they play ball, and to me these memories are the most precious possessions I own!
